"We all had a great time, and the kids loved it - I really feel that it was such a positive experience for them - they are beginning to understand that we care what they think and how they feel!"

The Graffiti Workshop evaluation
Having been warmly welcomed and given a detailed overview by Anouska and the team regarding the session plan and aims, I was introduced to the young men who were to participate at the graffiti workshop activity. The team and myself discussed ideas and approaches regarding the session, being attentive to the health and safety aspects of the activity. During session the young men took ownership by helping me to arrange the boards which were designated to be painted. Observed me in the initial stages of the painting, they cooperated in the colouring in and design of the letterforms and finally led the workshop by completing the composition with me working in a supportive capacity.

My observations of the group were:

Team working, good rapport and peer mentoring.
Responsibility of adhering to health and safety procedures.
Clear understanding of action points agreed prior to the activity.
Good negotiation skills with all parties concerned to reach an agreed outcome.

In summary I thoroughly enjoyed meeting and working with Anouska, her team
and the young people. I intend to showcase this project on our company
website as a 'case study' to assist other young people, and supportive
agencies nationally, to prepare for and subsequently hold a graffiti
workshop activity.
